Inspiring boys to become positive young men
In the Dominican Republic, many families are impoverished and the public schools are poorly resourced. Boys have little to no access to after-school programs, are likely to drop out of school, or use drugs or alcohol—which dramatically limits their future success.
InspireDR provides free after-school and summer programs to teach boys practical life skills and instill positive values.
Since 2015, we’ve helped more than 100 boys on their path toward being responsible men, husbands, and fathers.
Positively Inspiring
& Educating Boys
Thanks to our donors, supporters, teachers and volunteers we provide these boys with a safe ecosystem to learn practical skills and positive values.
First, we teach that actions have consequences: attendance, mutual respect, a positive attitude and teamwork are rated daily and good grades unlocks further participation in fun InspireDR programs (like surfing, swimming, summer camp,…).

Yet, the backbone of our skills training is the free after-school program. At InspireDR boys learn practical skills such as computer literacy, English (ESL), public speaking, recycling, swimming, woodworking, lifeguard training, entrepreneurship and more.
The results we observe are often incredible!
Both our team and the parents see the boys’ self-esteem and confidence improve quickly, along with their academic performance and behavior at school and at home. They come to see themselves as valuable and worthy, which translates into respectful relationships, particularly with girls and women. Their career and income opportunities expand, and they develop the desire and means to serve their community.

What About Girls?
We focus on boys, because we care for girls too. In 2015, when we started InspireDR, nothing was being done for boys in Cabarete, as there were several excellent and well-funded non-profit organizations focusing on girls.
For Dominican girls to move past stereotypical roles as domestic laborers and family caretakers, and to escape pervasive domestic violence, they need support of boys and men.
Hence, helping boys to grow as responsible and open-minded men, husbands and fathers helps women break through the glass ceiling.

Become part of the InspireDR family and make a positive and lasting impact on these boys’ lives:
- “Sponsor a boy” is InspireDR’s entry-level, $49 / month program which enables us to welcome a boy into our program sustainably and keep him progressing all year long.
- Donate any amount to help keep our program alive and thriving.
- Volunteer with InspireDR, locally or as a visiting volunteer.
Our finances are independently audited and all donations are spent to educate the boys. Guaranteed.
